It was just a regular day until I heard a knock on my door. At first I thought it was the newsboy, but when I opened the door I saw five soldiers. “You have to get out of your house!" said one of the soldiers. I was shocked, I didn’t know why, so I asked “why do I have to get out of my house?” And they weren’t just random soldiers, they were British soldiers. ” another soldier suggested “maybe ask your cousin”? then I went to my cousin because he is a British officer so I asked may I please stay in my home. He said fine. Only if they can have room for their meetings ” We agreed but I was a little mad that I had to let British officers in my house. that night I was sleeping when I heard a noise down in the guest room I was hiding in the closet when I heard them say “this is where we will attack. we'll do it in two days.” As soon as I heard I wanted to wait until they left till. I was waiting in the closet when I heard silence. I peeked around the corner and I saw that they had left. Then I quietly walked out of the room just in case they were here, then I went to bed. The next day I got up early and told Washington all I heard and they had two days to get ready.
Chapter 4: Why Lydia was Important
You might be thinking that only men could be heroes in the American Revolution. But really a lot of women were heroes in the American Revolution, too. One example is Lydia Darragh. Lydia was important to the American Revolution. She was important because she chose to help the Americans, saving many soldier’s lives. She was also important because she was brave.
One reason Lydia Darragh was important was because she chose to help the Americans, saving many lives. For example she could have helped her cousin, who was a loyalist, but she chose to help the Americans saving tons of lives. Lydia was a Quaker and she believed in no war.but she helped the americans fight even though she was a quaker woman. She helped them by spying on the british if they were planning attacks without the colonies knowing she told thomas Crag who told washington that the british were planning attack. This shows that she helped them because she wanted to pass the information to George Washington
Another reason Lydia Darrah was important was because she was brave. She spied independently without any help because she couldn't have help as the British were in her house.she was more likely to get caught if someone helped her. It was easier to not get caught because men didn’t think about women being spies. It was very uncommon for women to be spies as most of the spies were men. It was hard and scary because she had to risk her life to save others and she had to doge getting caught for example when she pretended she was going out to buy flowers but really she was going to tell Thomas craig about the attack.
In conclusion Lydia dagrah was important because she saved soldiers lives, because she chose to help the colonies, she spied without any help and she was one of the first female spies.even though she wasn't in a statue we should still appreciate her and what she has done.
Lydia Darragh was important because she saved soldiers' lives. If she hadn't told George Washington, thousands of soldiers would have died. Not just that but they would have lost a lot of land too. But since Lydia helped none of that happened because they had two days to get ready. But the british were confused on how the colonies were ready. So they questioned Lydia. She Lied and said that everyone was sleeping when they had their meeting. The british believed her because she was a woman, which they thought could not do anything wrong because they were female and female could not do anything. Now it's incredible how she came from a Quaker to a spy!
