Missing Statue: Molly Pitcher by Shakked

Did you notice that most of the statues are men? Actually, there are a few statues that should have been there. For example, Molly Pitcher, who represented a lot of women who worked during the American Revolution, doesn’t have a statue, when she should have had one. Molly Pitchers should have statues because they were important. They helped the soldiers during the war when the British were about to attack and they brought water from pitchers. They were just as important as the men who fought in the war, whose statues you’ve just seen. Read on to learn about women who fought in the Revolutionary War.

Part 1: THE MYSTERIES OF MOLLY PITCHER

Did you know Molly Pitcher was more than one woman ?

Yes , Molly Pitcher represented many women that were in the war against the Brits because their husbands were fighting there. I’m going to tell you about one of the Molly Pitchers who was named Murry Ludwig Hays Mccauly or simply Marry Hays. You might be asking yourself why is she so important? She is important because her husband was in the war against the Brits and got shot in the heart and died. She didn't waste a second. She picked up his musket and started shooting for the rest of the war.

You also might be thinking ‘’so if her name is Murry Hays why did the soldiers call her Molly Pitcher?’’

So here is the answer: the name Murry had a nick-name that was Molly and that's the first part of the name. So where did the last part of the name come from ?

The women who came to the camp also had to bring water from the pitcher for the thirsty soldiers to drink. And that's how the name Molly Pitcher was made.

part 2: DAUGHTERS OF LIBERTY

Molly Pitcher was a daughter of liberty . Just like Sara Fulton, Sybil Ludington, Deborah Samson, Kate Barry, Lydia Darragh, and many more.

SONS OF LIBERTY VS. DAUGHTERS OF LIBERTY

The daughters of liberty were just like the sons of liberty just women and had less jobs that was because women had less rights .An example for that is that they had to stay home take care of the children and babies.

WHAT THE DAUGHTERS OF LIBERTY DID

The daughters of liberty didn't have so many rights but still helped . For example, they didn't marry any man that used British goods because they themselves boycotted British goods. They also held up their heads when they passed next to British soldiers (while the sons of liberty called the soldiers bloody backs or lobster backs)Finally, they also tarred and feathered anyone who talked badly about the sons of liberty.

part 3:MINI STORY IN THE WAR MOLLY PITCHER IS IN

‘’Give me that!’’ I heard a woman saying. She took the musket and started shooting. A redcoat fell there was blood drops on his coat you could see how it blended in with his blood red coat.’’Molly, molly!’’ I heard everyone cheering at the end of the war.

We had won and Mary Hays helped as I knew her. She helped me when I got hurt during the Boston Massacre.but I never knew she could be so tough in wars.I was happy and sad her husband was a very good friend of mine. I couldn't move my legs felt like steel and my heart was beating faster than ever.My mouth dropped open but I couldn't say a word.

Part 4: ESSAY WHY MOLLY PITCHER IS IMPORTANT

Do you think men are stronger than women? Well that's not true women were fighting just like men in the revolutionary war and one of them was Molly Pitcher.

Molly pitcher is important because she helped in the revolutionary war,she was a daughter of liberty , and she didn't waste a second.

One reason that Molly Pitcher is important is because she helped in the war.For example she worked to bring water and helped hurt soldiers.Another example is that she also warned the soldiers if the British wanted to attack.

Another reason is that she was a daughter of liberty helping the patriots get their own country from the British King George the third . Another example is that she has a statue of her doing her husband's work cleaning the cannons and fixing them. She is known as a Daughter of Liberty.

The last reason that Molly Pitcher is important is that she didn't waste a second. For example, she didn’t cry about her dead husband. She just picked up his musket and started fighting until the end of the war.

As you can see women can be just as good as men. Today Women fight in wars side by side with men and do just as well.Unfortunately, Molly pitcher doesn't have a statue in Paris. But fortunately on her grave there is a statue of her with a cannon stick and it’s on every one of the Molly Pitchers' graves.

Part 5: CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I hope you learned a lot about molly pitcher such as the mysteries of molly pitcher, all about Molly Pitcher, and last of all why she is important.

She doesn't have a statue but it's important to know that there are women who helped in the revolutionary war so people know that women are as good as men and can do important things just like men can.
