The Essay
Have ever you thought about why the battle of Yorktown was important? Well, it was very important because it was the last major battle and showed the friendship between the Americans and the French and it also showed that the Amercians could defeat the British.
The first reason the battle of Yorktown was important is that it was the last major battle of the revolution. Before the battle of Yorktown, the British were very exhausted after the battle of Guilford Courthouse. So after the battle of Yorktown, the British were even more exhausted. I think they couldn’t even fight another battle and win it.
The second reason why the battle of Yorktown was important, was that it showed the friendship between the Americans and the French. Rochambeau and De Grace blocked the harbor so that the British could not bring materials to Cornwallis and his men. But not only that, De Grasse and Rochambeau helped the Americans in the battle. Also the young French officer Lafayette helped. He led French soldiers next to the American soldiers to fight the British.
The third reason why the battle of Yorktown was important, was that the battle showed that the Amercians could defeat the British. At the beginning of the war, a lot of people said that Americans could never defeat the British, because the Amercians didn’t have a trained army while the British had one of the best armies in the world. But in the battle of Yorktown, the Americans finally defeated the British. They proved that they had a strong army and that their will to be independent gave them the strength to win.
In summary, the battle of Yorktown was a crucial battle in American history. It was the proof point that Amercians could defeat the British and become independent.
The Battle of Yorktown had an important impact on America. Without it America would maybe not exist. In the battle of Yorktown the world turned upside down, because the Americans won and noone thought the Americans would win, but they did! King George got mad after that loss. But it was finally freedom for America and France.
